The journey to spiritual enlightenment can be a lonely one; each of us is battling a different style of confusion and needs different techniques and methods to recognize and discard that confusion. Buddhist teachings say that having a “spiritual friend,” or meditation teacher, can help us feel less alone and cut down on detours and dead-ends as we walk the dharma path. Using her story of a relationship with the Buddhist master Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche as an example, Lama Kathy will explain the different phases of the teacher-student relationship and offer advice on how to navigate the path.
